Jamie Bierl

I was born and raised in Clarion, Iowa (90 miles north of Des Moines). Growing up, my dad introduced me to many outdoor activities – hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, waterskiing, ice skating, canoeing, etc. These were my fondest memories growing up, creating a special bond with my dad and allowed us to connect at a deeper level all while enjoying the things we loved to do. My dad was my hero.

Later in life after finishing college, I moved to Des Moines, got married, and had two beautiful girls (Trinity and Hailey). We moved to an acreage outside of Winterset which allowed my girls and I to do many things in the outdoors – go exploring in the woods, fishing, trapping, sledding, four-wheeling, etc. Any free time we had, we would spend it outdoors throughout all four seasons.

My passion for the outdoors continued to grow even more, as it was “our happy place” to unplug, disconnect from the stresses of the world, develop a deeper connection, and just “be together”.

I eventually bought two parcels of land to support my new passion for whitetail hunting. This has turned into year-round activities – spring planting, mowing trails, planting trees, timber improvement, CRP maintenance, fall plantings, hunting, and shed hunting. My girls and I have turned into wildlife managers more than actual hunters! But the best part of all of this is that I get to spend time with my girls, teaching them about wildlife and nature, and more importantly, about life in general. All the while we improve the land, enjoy four-wheeling, late evening grill outs and bon fires.

There have been several times when we went to a property with tasks and a certain goal in mind to accomplish for that day, but turned into a meaningful conversation on a particular topic where we spent all day talking, but not accomplishing anything we set out to accomplish. As a dad, those are the best days, and when true connections happen!
